Introductory --- Designed for psychologists who may have little to no background in a specialized skill or content area. The learner can become acquainted with the theoretical underpinnings, principles, methods, and perspectives of a content area. Although it can be used as a foundation for more advanced learning, a program may simply focus on breadth, enrichment or general knowledge.
Course Description and Target Audience
Presenting the basics of TMS and antidepressants. Target audience: Mental health professionals that work with patients on psychotropics.
Providers will become aware of what additional resources are available outside of psychotherapy. Limitation is that therapists do not prescribe. Potential risk is that with any introduction presentation they will not have all the information around each treatment.
There are certain populations that have decrease access- for example I discuss how white patients are more likely to gain access to ADHD medication- likely a combination of stigma, provider bias (explicit and implicit). I discuss how race is a factor in diagnosis and provide citations to studies.

Presenter Information
Dr. Eliza Brink received her BSN from the University of Vermont and worked overseas before returning to complete her doctorate in nursing at the University of Washington. Over the past 10 years, I have worked in various outpatient psychiatric settings with a strong focus on young adults with treatment-resistant depression and PTSD. In partnership with Dr. Molly Davis, I co-founded Clear Path Psychiatry, an innovative interventional psychiatry practice in Seattle. Recognizing the limitations of traditional medications, we offer advanced treatment options including deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (dTMS) for depression and OCD using the BrainsWay H1 and H7 coils, as well as Spravato (intranasal esketamine) for treatment-resistant depression.
I recently completed a year-long psychedelic-assisted therapy fellowship through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, with specialized training in ketamine, psilocybin, and MDMA-assisted therapy. Outside of Clear Path, I founded Spruce Psychiatric Associates, which supports over 20 psychiatric nurse practitioners across Washington. I have been a faculty member at the University of Washington for over a decade and currently serve as an Assistant Teaching Professor in the School of Nursing. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Clinical TMS Society.
