Course Description and Target Audience
The content was obtained from primary source materials. It is expected that this information will be of great use in working with military service members. It will also be asserted that this information will be useful in working with many clients with trauma and complex trauma histories. The content may be disturbing to some sensitive participants and they will be cautioned at the beginning of the presentation and will be asked to excuse themselves if needed or desired.
There are no known risks to this presentation.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will be able to describe the moral issues involved in combat.
- Participants will be able to describe how moral injury can be a part of, a distinct from, PTSD.
- Participants will be able to describe major correlates of moral injury.
- Participants will be able to describe common measurement instruments for moral injury.
Presenter Information
James Noll, Ph.D., HSPP, is the Director of Training at Four County. Dr. Noll received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Purdue University in 1987 and his masters and doctoral degrees in psychology from Northern Illinois University in 1993 and 1999 respectively. Dr. Noll completed his internship at the Lexington KY Veterans Affairs Medical Center with rotations in geropsychology, neuropsychology, and acute care. He has been at Four County since 1997 and has been practicing in community mental health since 1995. Dr. Noll conducts individual, family, and couples therapy, completes psychological evaluations, and is involved in overall treatment planning. He has interests in anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, and treating elderly individuals. He has received advanced training in treating military personnel and their families. He also is a lecturer for the counseling psychology department at Purdue University and teaches coursework on clinical supervision, life-span development, and basic and advanced counseling theories. Dr. Noll commissioned with the Indiana Army National Guard in 2016 and serves as a psychologist.
Video Homestudy Format
CE’s for this homestudy training will be earned through completing the following tasks:
- Watch the presentation video and review all provided documents in their entirety.
- Pass the post-test questionnaire with at least 80% correct.
A program evaluation form will be provided to all who registered following the training. Please be sure to complete this form since your feedback helps direct future CE programming from our organization.
Registration Cost
This cost includes video links, materials, and tests required to obtain CE’s. Your CE certificate will be made available to you upon successful completion of the training (80% or higher on exam).
National Psychology Training Consortium (NPTC) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NPTC maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
