Instructional Level

Introductory --- Designed for psychologists who may have little to no background in a specialized skill or content area. The learner can become acquainted with the theoretical underpinnings, principles, methods, and perspectives of a content area. Although it can be used as a foundation for more advanced learning, a program may simply focus on breadth, enrichment or general knowledge.


Course Description and Target Audience

This presentation will focus on the development, implementation and review/evaluation of Performance Improvement plans (PIP). Presenter will be using the PIP plan guidelines currently outlined by NPTC. These guidelines will provide interns with an introduction on how to develop formalized plans focused on supervisee improvement.

No potential risks are associated with this presentation. Materials will give trainees an example of structure and format of formalized improvement plans.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to list the components of an effective Performance Improvement Plan.
  • Participants will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of when a Performance Improvement Plan should be initiation.
  • Participants will be able to describe how to evaluate the effectiveness of a PIP.


Presenter Information

Dr. Lea earned her doctoral degree in Psychology in 2018 at Oklahoma State University. She completed her internship and post-doctoral residency at Compass Health Network in Rolla, MO. She has training and experience in a variety of settings, including community mental health, residential treatment, academic medical centers, schools, college counseling centers, and FQHC. Dr. Lea has specialty training in child psychology and has co-authored 11 peer-reviewed publications focused on cognitive deficits associated with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. In addition, Dr. Lea is a certified PCIT therapist, co-leads adult and adolescent DBT groups, and has specialty training in psychological assessment across the lifespan. She also has experience and interest in teaching, training, and disseminating academic research to staff and students. Dr. Lea's theoretical orientation is cognitive-behavioral/behavioral.

Video Homestudy Format

CE’s for this homestudy training will be earned through completing the following tasks:

  • Watch the presentation video and review all provided documents in their entirety.
  • Pass the post-test questionnaire with at least 80% correct.


A program evaluation form will be provided to all who registered following the training. Please be sure to complete this form since your feedback helps direct future CE programming from our organization.

Registration Cost

This cost includes video links, materials, and tests required to obtain CE’s. Your CE certificate will be made available to you upon successful completion of the training (80% or higher on exam).
