The learner can become acquainted with the theoretical underpinnings, principles, methods, and perspectives of a content area. Course Description and Target Audience
Clinicians engage in evidence-based practice when they integrate the best available research with their clinical expertise in the context of client characteristics, culture, and preferences. First, this presentation will introduce the participant to efficient strategies to find the best available research during a busy clinic day. Next, this presentation will discuss evidence-based components of clinical expertise. Last, this presentation will discuss evidence-based factors that are helpful when personalizing therapy to a particular client. Throughout the presentation, the relevance to clinical work will be highlighted and participants are encouraged to apply the learned knowledge to their own work with clients.

Learning Objectives
- Participants will be able to describe evidence-based practice.
- Participants will be able to identify at least two databases that they can utilize to access the best available evidence.
- Participants will be able to describe three practices that effective therapists engage in.
- Participants will be able to describe at least 5 dimensions along which tailoring of therapy to a particular client has been shown to be effective.
Presenter Information
Dr. Nina Stoeckel is a licensed clinical psychologist and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Notre Dame. She provides training and clinical supervision to doctoral students in the delivery of empirically supported interventions and coordinates the practicum training for doctoral students in clinical psychology. Her interests are in the areas of adult behavioral medicine, integrated care, and empirically supported treatments. Dr. Stoeckel has been a member of the Indiana Psychology Association's Ethics Committee since 2020.
Video Homestudy Format
CE’s for this homestudy training will be earned through completing the following tasks:
- Watch the presentation video and review all provided documents in their entirety.
- Pass the post-test questionnaire with at least 80% correct.
A program evaluation form will be provided to all who registered following the training. Please be sure to complete this form since your feedback helps direct future CE programming from our organization.
Registration Cost
This cost includes video links, materials, and tests required to obtain CE’s. Your CE certificate will be made available to you upon successful completion of the training (80% or higher on exam).
