Instructional Level

Introductory --- Designed for psychologists who may have little to no background in a specialized skill or content area. The learner can become acquainted with the theoretical underpinnings, principles, methods, and perspectives of a content area.  Although it can be used as a foundation for more advanced learning, a program may simply focus on breadth, enrichment or general knowledge.

Course Description and Target Audience
This course will review the evidence base for clinical supervision and supervision models. Recommendations for effective and ethical clinical supervision with be reviewed. Power dynamics in supervision will be discussed with some practical exercises.

The target audience is mental health providers (advanced doctoral level psychology trainees, psychologists in practice, master’s level clinicians, etc).

There are no known risks to this presentation.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to explain the limits of models of supervision.
  • Participants will be able to describe the risks related to the role of supervisor.
  • Participants will be able to list three underlying assumptions of the guidelines for clinical supervision in health psychology.
  • Participants will be able to explain one element of the complexity of power within the supervisory relationship.


Presenter Information

Dr. Allred is a licensed psychologist and has worked at HealthPoint since 2013 as a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC). He received his degree from Nova Southeastern University, College of Psychology. His dissertation was on the spiritual and psychological impacts of clergy perpetrated sexual abuse compared to abuse by family members and strangers. He then completed his predoctoral internship at HealthPoint at the Kent location. Dr. Allred’s primary interests include substance use disorders, trauma, and gender-affirming health care.

Video Homestudy Format

CE’s for this homestudy training will be earned through completing the following tasks:

  • Watch the presentation video and review all provided documents in their entirety.
  • Pass the post-test questionnaire with at least 80% correct.


A program evaluation form will be provided to all who registered following the training. Please be sure to complete this form since your feedback helps direct future CE programming from our organization.

Registration Cost

This cost includes video links, materials, and tests required to obtain CE’s. Your CE certificate will be made available to you upon successful completion of the training (80% or higher on exam).
