Course Description and Target Audience
This presentation will discuss professionalism and professional conduct in the context of clinical supervision. Attendees will learn how to navigate problems of professional competence in trainees including developing useful performance improvement plans grounded in behavior change. An exploration of developmental approaches to supervision, including the intersection of education programs and cohort effects, will help supervisors better support their supervisees. Target audience: Licensed psychologists who provide clinical supervision to practicum students, interns, and post-docs.
This presentation is based on both published books and peer-reviewed studies of clinical supervision and is assumed to be accurate and utilitarian. This presentation is focused on advanced supervision topics and assumes that attendees have a base of understanding and experience upon which to build. There are no foreseen risks.
An explicit discussion of multiculturalism and communalism will form a portion of the presentation. Attendees will be encouraged to incorporated their own knowledge base with the presented information to synthesize a multicultural conceptualization applicable to the trainees with which they work.

- Participants will be able to identify how cultural norms impact the assessment of professional competence.
- Participants will be able to list ways to define effective interventions for performance improvement plans.
- Participants will be able to identify an interpersonal skill that can be used to facilitate difficult conversations about problems of professional competence.
Presenter Information
Dr. Allred is a licensed psychologist, Board Certified in Addiction Psychology. He has worked at HealthPoint since 2013 as a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC). He received his degree from Nova Southeastern University, College of Psychology. His dissertation was on the spiritual and psychological impacts of clergy-perpetrated sexual abuse compared to abuse by family members and strangers. He then completed his predoctoral internship at HealthPoint at the Kent location. Dr. Allred's primary interests include substance use disorders, trauma, and gender-affirming health care.
Video Homestudy Format
CE’s for this homestudy training will be earned through completing the following tasks:
- Watch the presentation video and review all provided documents in their entirety.
- Pass the post-test questionnaire with at least 80% correct.
A program evaluation form will be provided to all who registered following the training. Please be sure to complete this form since your feedback helps direct future CE programming from our organization.
Registration Cost
This cost includes video links, materials, and tests required to obtain CE’s. Your CE certificate will be made available to you upon successful completion of the training (80% or higher on exam).
