The topic and materials presented in this course are believed to be accurate and relevant to early-career psychologists, particularly those practicing in rural and integrated care settings. Ethical challenges in psychology are well-documented in empirical literature (Faber &Bartlett , 2023; Lindgren & Rozental, 2022). The ethical decision-making models reviewed in this presentation are grounded in empirically examined (Johnson et al., 2022). By integrating evidence-based strategies for mitigating malpractice risks and fostering ethical practice, this presentation equips participants with actionable tools that align with professional guidelines set forth by the American Psychological Association (APA, 2017). This presentation does not provide an exhaustive review of all ethical challenges that psychologists may face during the early stages of their careers. A modern contradictory perspective can be found here: O’Donohue, W. (2020). Criticisms of the ethical principles for psychologists and code of conduct. Ethics & Behavior, 30(4), 275-293. There are no known risks associated with the content presented.

This presentation meaningfully incorporates diversity and diverse identities by addressing ethical challenges that arise in working with diverse populations, particularly in rural and integrated care settings. The course includes discussions on how biases, systemic barriers, and cultural competence impact professional conduct, confidentiality, and dual relationships. Case studies and interactive scenarios will feature diverse client backgrounds, ensuring participants develop skills to navigate ethical dilemmas in an inclusive and culturally responsive manner. Additionally, the presentation examines ethical considerations related to social media and technology use, acknowledging how different communities engage with mental health services in unique ways.
